The Hempel is a premier designer 5 star boutique hotel in London. Nestled amongst the trendy neighbourhoods of Notting Hill and Bayswater, The Hempel comprises 50 individually designed guest rooms, suites and apartments each in it’s own minimalist style. Opened in 1996, The stylish Hempel is acclaimed British designer Anouska Hempel's fashionable homage to the allure and vitality of Zen minimalism.
Inspired by the essence of modern and ancient travel, the unique atmosphere of The Hempel achieves balance and harmony through the use of warm lighting and natural materials, associated with the traditional Zen philosophy of Earth, Wood, Metal, Fire and Water.
The colour palette is dominated by cream, honey, brown and slate. Core materials include hard Portland stones, Belgian Limestone, Birch Wood and silk wallpaper.
Each of the 50 rooms and suites at The Hempel is unique and embraces a variety of unusual spaces and features, following the same principles of clean, simple spaces.
Amongst the suites at The Hempel is the “Lioness’ Den” a breathtaking suite featuring a bed suspended above the main room, delicately caged with chrome bars to each side. Combined with stunning views over the private garden, this is arguably one of the most unique suites to be found in London.
No. 17 Craven Hill Garden, contains six serviced apartments that cater for long stay guests as well as those who require extra privacy for just one night or even a year.
The Zen Garden is a treasure for the private use of the hotel guests. Enclosed by a six-foot hedge and beautiful trees, three squares of raked Italian marble pebbles surround three symmetrical slate lined ponds, offer guests a little oasis in the heart of London. In the summer guests enjoy a selection of refreshments on the private terrace or while sitting on the grass on one of the Hempel’s own blankets.
