Suitehotel Posthoorn is a perfect place to kickstart or rekindle a romance. Just outside the centre of Amsterdam (12 kilometres) you will love this romantic place. Behind the facade of this house from the 17th century hides a wonderful combination of nostalgia and modern luxury. As the owners bought this house they let it restore completely.

Afterwards they designed with the help of a colour expert the rooms, arranged selected antiques, contemporary furniture as beautiful sofas, huge armchairs and exclusive tables and decorated them with original paintings from the 17th and 18th century. Five super-stylish rooms, each in its own unique setting and warm atmosphere.

The rooms are named after, and in style with, the historic figures that, in the rich past of the hotel, stayed or lived in the 17th century buildings. All rooms feature beautiful coourful walls in handcrafted paint, designed by the renow coour expert Meta Weiman and guaranteed to win hearts and minds. The rooms are furnished with carefully selected antique and contemporary furniture, and are decorated with original 17th and 18th century drawings and paintings from the waterland region.

Bedrooms are opulent and complete with all the modern day add-ons. Breakfast is served in the restaurant, in the summer on the veranda.

Location and Travel

The Suitehotel Posthoorn is located in the heart of the medieval town Monnickendam, of the twelve eldest cities of the Netherlands. The originality, the harbour and the picturesque houses of the old-town help to make the setting to something really special. Nearby are the cities Voldendam, Edam and Marken, which attract the visitors continually.

The centre of Amsterdam can be reached within approximately 15 minutes, but the nature of Waterland invites to discoveries as well.

Restaurant Posthoorn

The restaurant Posthoorn is located in two beautiful restored adjacent buildings from the 17th century. The classical surrounding with lightly coloured walls, ceilings decorated with ornaments and great chandeliers give the restaurant a touch of international flair.

Here, Rogier van Dam and his team cook French-Mediterranean dishes from fresh and traditional products, weekly menus as well as à-la-carte, to which the sommelier constantly recommends the right wine. In the summer offers the veranda a further capacity for 50 people. Noteworthy as well is the fact that the restaurant Posthoorn was awarded with a Michelin star and 15 Gault Millau points after only 4 months since the opening. Reservations are recommended, closed on Mondays.

Lounge

Since the 17th century the Lounge is the meeting place for the Regents of Waterland. With its luxuriously cosy residential feel, this room is the perfect place after a busy day. Relax in the comfortable leather fauteuils and enjoy digestifs and cigars arund the fireplace.

Private Dining room

The Private Dining is an excellent venue for special private dining occassions and is suitable for business meetings. The contemporary and character-rich ambience provides a perfect setting for individual gatherings. The room provides space for 4 up to 22 persons to join a sitting. In a theatre like arrangement 25 persons can be accommodated. All meeting supplies are availoable and wireless internet is available throughout the entire building.
